After Communion has been distributed, all sit for a period of silent prayer, at the end of which the priest will read a short prayer connecting the experience of Eucharist to the experience of marriage. As with the Collect and the Prayer Over the Gifts, several different prayer options are delineated – the first with more ancient roots and the others with more modern ones. Each wedding prayer after communion asks that the gift of Eucharist might draw you as a married couple into deeper communion with each other.
